Abstract

The research purpose is to analyze the democratic perspective of Norberto Bobbio extracted especially the book "In Praise of Meekness and Other Moral Writings", with emphasis on meekness, pluralism and democracy. The problem of research is to ask, since democracy is composed of antagonistic groups with equal rights of freedom of belief and expression, in what terms would it be possible to obtain an environment of open and non-violent political discussion? Research on democratic virtues, such as meekness, is justified and necessary when faced with the fact that law, in its legislative and judicial manifestations, ends up being a field of litigation between opposing groups that seek, among other results, nullify the political expression of rivals. The method used is the deductive, based mainly on bibliographical surveys. It concludes that the construction of law by citizens who cultivate the virtue of meekness in the context of democracy makes possible the implementation of a pluralistic, tolerant and nonviolent social environment.
