Abstract

The research aims to build a study about the current horizons of teledemocracy under its weak version – understood as being the use of technological means as a form of accessibility of the citizen to the candidate who will represent him before the State Powers –,with a specific approach focused on the use of social media as an instrument for maintaining hegemonic power. The justification consists in the recognition of a cause and consequence relationship of technologies in the exercise of citizenship and democracy, so that the problem that guides the research seeks to verify if the information and communication technologies, while phenomenon of emancipation of opinion, inclusion and participation in State decisions can be considered a risk to democracy. The research will be exploratory and descriptive, using the hypothetical-deductive approach method, in addition to the historical, comparative and typological auxiliary procedure methods, since it will be studied, based on bibliographic and documentary research, the evolution of the digital society while complex social phenomenon.
