Abstract

During the last three decades of the 20th century, eminent technological advances have taken place in several countries. The new information and communication technologies (ICT) spread widely around the year 1970, creating a new social paradigm. ICTs have brought undeniable improvements to the population, as they have provided amenities and solved problems linked to habitual needs. It became inevitable that the entire community would have to adapt to the new emerging dictates imposed by the digital age. It will be seen that technological advance is considered as a consequence of the development process of the productive forces of society, the main one being work. In this bias, the most important Brazilian protective labor normatization emerged during the Vargas Era, with the enactment of the Consolidation of Labor Laws, on May 1, 1943. This instrument dealt with numerous individual and collective aspects of the labor relationship, as well as the corporate and union sphere. Due to technological advances and the emergence of the information society, the labor mode was restructured and adapted to the growing needs. Telecommunications has directly influenced the lives of workers and companies, generating profound changes in the traditional structures previously consolidated. Thus, this article aims to analyze, from a normative and historical perspective, the introduction of new technologies in the social realm, especially in the Brazilian labor market from the implementation of telework. It seeks, through a bibliographic and applied research, to instigate the reader to reflect about remote work, recently incorporated to the Brazilian labor legislation (Law 13.467/2017). Finally, some reflections about remote work will be made in the search for improvements of the institute that aim at development and social progress.
